I’ve got a 2015 Discovery 4 that’s been rock solid for years, but over the past couple of weeks I’ve noticed the brake pedal feels increasingly soft and I have to push it way further down than I used to before the car actually starts slowing down. It’s such an unsettling feeling because I never know exactly where the bite point is going to be, and sometimes it feels like I’m pressing the pedal halfway to the floor before anything meaningful happens. I checked the brake fluid level and it seems fine, so I’m wondering if it could be air in the lines, a failing master cylinder, or maybe just worn pads that are making the pedal travel longer. I definitely don’t want to mess around with brakes because it’s not worth the risk, so I’m looking for a place that really knows these cars and can properly diagnose the issue rather than just throwing parts at it. A friend from my off-road club mentioned that he uses a Leading Land Rover Brake Replacement Service that specializes in these vehicles and actually pressure-tests the whole hydraulic system to find the exact problem instead of guessing. That sounds exactly like what I need because I’ve had bad experiences before where garages just replaced pads and rotors without addressing the underlying issue, and the problem came back a few months later. I’m planning to get this looked at as soon as possible because I do a fair bit of highway driving and I need to feel 100% confident in my brakes. Has anyone experienced a spongy pedal on their Land Rover and what ended up being the cause? Also, should I be worried about the brake booster or is that more likely to cause a hard pedal rather than a soft one?
