POSITION: Manager, Prospect Research

DEPARTMENT: Resource Development

REPORTS TO: AVP, Development

PAY GRADE: 6

SALARY RANGE $70,000 to $75,000

PRIMARY PURPOSE

The Manager of Prospect Research is a detail oriented, process driven individual who has mastery of prospect research tools and techniques. The Manager of Prospect Research will manage United Way’s prospect research program including but not limited to the creation of senior leadership briefings, the management of fundraiser portfolios, and the use of research and wealth screening results to sustain and grow the pipeline of donors while maintaining constituent data standards within the database of record.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Utilize licensed and publicly available resources to research and analyze United Way’s donors and prospects, in accordance with APRA’s Statement of Ethics.
  • Develop and maintain Prospect Research procedure and best practice documents.
  • Document research findings in appropriate data tables, donor profile documents, and database records, and provide requested information to Resource Development team in a timely fashion.
  • Support portfolio review, pipeline analysis, and relationship mapping with timely, relevant, research updates.
  • Create and maintain data mining operations to query relevant donor data and monitor data quality in database of record, in accordance with existing data entry protocols.
  • Monitor Resource Development Activity Reports, Revenue Reports, and pledge alert notifications.
  • Monitor published materials and news alerts for competitive gifts and significant events involving United Way’s donors and prospects; update donor information and communicate findings to Resource Development in a timely fashion. Proactively identify new potential prospects.
  • Support establishment of prospect/donor Linkage, Ability and Interest scores for prospect plans.
  • Work with wealth screening vendor to prepare donor files and analyze screening data. Exports and imports data from/to database of record, updating constituent coding as needed.
  • Achieve or exceed prospect research performance metrics and maintain a client-focused approach to serving Resource Development teams.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Familiarity with CRM database best practices.
  • Broad understanding of fundraising and fundraising best practices.
  • Strong fact-finding, problem-solving, research, and analysis skills required.
  • Highly organized, meticulous attention to detail, ability to multi-task, prioritize, delegate and execute concurrent projects and day to day tasks.
  • Ability to be discreet and maintain highly confidential information required.
  • Possess a collaborative and entrepreneurial spirit, self-motivated, innovative, resourceful, flexible; consistently delivers high level of service to the team and organization.
