Job Title: Certified Peer Specialist (Court-Based Mental Health Navigator)
Location: Washington County, NY
Hourly Rate:$33-$35
About the Role:
Corporate Hiring Solutions, Inc. is seeking a Certified Peer Specialist to serve as a
Court-Based Mental Health Navigator in Washington County, NY. This position is funded
through the New York State Office of Mental Health and plays a critical role in supporting
justice-involved individuals with serious mental illness (SMI) by facilitating access to mental
health services, treatment programs, and essential community resources.
Key Responsibilities:
● Conduct initial screenings to determine mental health or substance use treatment needs.
● Coordinate and connect participants with community-based treatment programs (e.g.,
SPOA, ACT, INSET, SOS).
● Follow up on referrals to ensure ongoing engagement and address barriers to treatment
participation.
● Educate participants on court processes and terminology.
● Maintain accurate case records and enter data into the OMH Diversion Center system.
● Develop and maintain a resource guide of behavioral health and social service
providers.
● Collaborate with courts, law enforcement, service providers, and county mental health
agencies.
● Provide training and consultation to criminal justice and mental health stakeholders.
● Participate in quarterly OMH-led calls and meetings to assess service gaps and improve
program delivery.
Minimum Qualifications:
● Certified as a New York Certified Peer Specialist (NYCPS) by the NY Peer Specialist
Certification Board (NYPSCB).
At least 1 year of professional experience in mental health, criminal justice, or
substance use support.
● Strong understanding of local mental health, social service, and criminal justice systems.
● Demonstrated ability to collaborate and communicate effectively across systems.
Additional Requirements:
● Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
● Willingness to work onsite at court locations and in the community.
● Proficiency in documenting client interactions and preparing accurate reports.
● Must maintain required insurance and pass all necessary background checks.
