Amalgamated Bank is looking for a Risk & Controls Manager, focusing Banking & Investments and will facilitate risk management oversight and execution within the business. You will also leverage understanding of risk frameworks to assist the business line to strengthen controls and mitigate operational risk as the bank continues to grow. Essential Job Functions:

  1. Facilitate risk assessment completion, update, and maintain risk and controls descriptions, key risk indicators (KRIs), resolution and tracking of audit, regulatory, and self-identified issue mitigation plans.
  2. Ensure adequacy of controls relevant to the Line of Business “LOB” including SOX and Risk & Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) controls and provide recommendations for improvement.
  3. Conduct periodic self-testing of design and effectiveness of controls, providing recommendations for enhancement in alignment with the Business Head.
  4. Develop and maintain process workflows for all critical processes within the LOB
  5. Partner with the Business Head to ensure policies and procedures are up to date.
  6. Work with Risk and Compliance to stay informed on relevant regulatory changes and/or changes in the law. Advise LOB lead on relevant changes.
  7. Assist with the preparation of management and committee materials as requested.
  8. Support Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery planning for the LOB.
  9. Lead LOB vendor related activities which include but are not limited to: service level agreement (SLA) performance, relevant entity controls within the LOB, etc.
  10. Investigate and report material risk events and determine root cause.
  11. Assist in new product/process rollout, advising on control adequacy.
  12. Act as Point of Contact for LOB during Audit and Exams.
  13. Perform other duties as needed.
  14. Partner with the Enterprise Risk Management team for support and to obtain guidance to facilitate oversight and execution of risk management activities.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience Requirements :

  1. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  2. Minimum 5-7 years of experience within an operations environment, preferably in a risk or control-oriented banking environment.
  3. Good understanding of operational controls and risk management techniques.
  4. Analytical and problem-solving skills required to interpret data.
  5. Ability to assess situations, competing needs, requirements and solve problems independently within aggressive time constraints, seeking guidance and approval where required.
  6. Ability to produce quality deliverables demonstrating strong written and verbal communication skills.
  7. Expert level experience with PowerPoint, Excel, and Visio.

Our job titles may span more than one career level. The starting base salary for this role is between $125,000.00 – $135,000.00. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: training, transferrable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.

Hybrid Work Model
Effective February 18, 2025, employees in office-based positions will be working a Hybrid work schedule consisting of three days or more, on-site per week, Monday - Thursday, although the specific days may vary by site or organization, with Friday designated as a remote-working day, unless business critical tasks require an on-site presence.
