Job Description

The Opportunity:

A Fortune 500 telecommunications company seeks a Senior Network Permitting Specialist for a long-term, temporary basis for at least twelve months, possibly longer in Chandler, AZ. The schedule is hybrid, Monday and Friday are WFH and in-office days are Tuesday through Thursday. The hourly rate is $40 - $50, plus benefits.

Primary Duties:

The Senior Network Permitting Specialist will be responsible for securing necessary permits, negotiating access agreements, and ensuring compliance with local government regulations. The Senior Network Permitting Specialist ​will have significant experience in network development, right-of-way access, and navigating governmental processes to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget. Additional duties include the following:

  • Oversee the submission and acquisition of permits and agreements required for the installation of the company's network infrastructure.
  • Act as the primary representative of the company's at public hearings, local agency meetings, and with city councils.
  • Collaborate with jurisdictional staff to interpret and navigate laws, codes, and ordinances, leveraging regulatory status to drive project deployment.
  • Negotiate and secure right-of-way access agreements for public and private properties.
  • Work closely with internal teams to ensure projects progress on schedule and budget, resolving issues as they arise.
  • Maintain accurate records of project progress, including data entry into project tracking systems.
  • Serve as the primary contact for both internal teams and external stakeholders regarding permitting tasks and deliverables.
  • Attend deployment meetings, addressing conflicts or challenges related to network entitlement and permit tasks.
  • Manage resident complaints, escalating concerns as needed to the Network Operations Center.
  • Lead the permitting function for assigned projects, ensuring adherence to timelines, accuracy in reporting, and project forecasting.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required.
  • JD orlegal background preferred, but not required.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in wireless services, site acquisition, governmental affairs, or planning/zoning roles. Comparable experience in related industries or military service will also be considered.
  • Strong experience in public speaking, particularly with governmental and regulatory bodies.
  • Expertise in preparing permit applications, construction documents, and network infrastructure planning.
  • Knowledge of Public Utility Codes, the Telecommunications Act, and local ordinances related to telecommunications network deployment.
  • Experience in working with cross-functional teams to achieve project goals.
  • Previous experience with deploying distributed telecommunications networks in public spaces is preferred.
  • Up to 30% travel required, including occasional day and overnight trips.
