About Acutronic
The Acutronic Group has a proud history of building and investing in technologies and teams that are crucial to the aerospace, defense, and transportation industries. Acutronic employs approximately 300 employees across sites in Austin, Texas; Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; Switzerland; Germany; India; and France. Acutronic’s Aerospace Components Division manufactures specialty components for use on uncrewed aerial vehicles (UAVs), land defense applications, and missile systems. These products are used on next-generation aerospace programs and include a range of electric power systems, servo actuators, micro-turbines, and Hybrid-Electric-Propulsion-Systems. Acutronic offers standard products and excels at designing highly customized solutions for demanding mission requirements.
Acutronic has been investing for the future since day one, showcased today by their new 14-acre test and manufacturing facility in Austin and $20MM+ invested into product line development and related infrastructure over the past six years. Acutronic counts most Primes as customers, is financially well positioned, and carries the elements of an innovative and dynamic startup in a growing marketplace.
Building on decades of market leadership, Acutronic Group launched its Aerospace Components Division in 2018, aiming to become the specialty component supplier of choice to the UAV industry. In 2019, Acutronic acquired Sullivan UV, a manufacturer of starters, alternators, and electronic control hardware that was founded in the late 1940s as a small manufacturer of control line products for model aircraft and later the radio control segment. In the late 1990s, Sullivan entered the expanding UAV market as Acutronic Power Systems, providing power systems and a range of other applications.
Acutronic launched its turbine business in 2018, as a joint-venture with BF Turbines out of Germany. This afforded Acutronic immediate access to an established product line of low-cost/hobby-grade micro[1]turbines. Acutronic augmented its turbine offering by establishing a domestic engineering team (located in Austin) and building a strong domestic supply chain to develop and produce mil-spec/tactical-grade turbojets and turbo-generators for the defense industry’s most demanding mission requirements. Acutronic has encountered considerable success with its turbine offering over the last few years and must now grow its team in order to keep up with market demand.

Purpose of the Position
Acutronic is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to join the team in Austin. In this role, you will be responsible for the design, development, and optimization of fluid systems within gas turbine engines, ensuring their reliability, efficiency, and performance. The ideal candidate will have at least seven (7) years of relevant experience in designing advanced gas-turbine systems and components. This position and company offer the opportunity to contribute to the advancement of important parts of the aerospace and drone/UAV ecosystem, and the power generation industry.
This is an excellent gateway for a talented engineer with micro-turbine expertise to bridge the “doing” with the high-level of product development from design through production and delivery. The astute systems engineer that’s hands-on and eager to jump in and assist team members with technical challenges on a path towards delivery and completion will thrive at Acutronic. Acutronic is 300+ strong and growing, and the team is thoughtful about growth and new product development in a critical sector of aerospace.
Reporting to the General Manager, the Senior Systems Engineer is tasked with collaborating and partnering with the motivated engineering team and Acutronic leadership. A penchant for auxiliary power unit, gas turbine, and micro-turbine technologies and full life-cycle product development is paramount to success. The Engineer must have a strong turbine technology acumen, see it as one system, and seek to apply their knowledge and “right-size the rigor” in a thoughtful way.
