InvitadoI’m in a bit of a weird situation and hoping someone here has dealt with something similar. I hurt my knee working for a construction company about two years ago when I was still living in Pennsylvania, and I’ve been receiving workers’ comp benefits there ever since. My wife got a really good job offer up in Kingston about six months ago, so we made the move, and now I’m trying to figure out how all of this works across state lines. My Pennsylvania lawyer said I can keep my claim open there, but he also mentioned that if I need new medical treatment or if anything changes with my case, I might want to have someone local who understands how New York handles things if there’s any overlap. I’ve been looking into finding a workers comp attorney Ulster County based to help me make sure I don’t accidentally mess up my existing benefits by being treated up here instead of driving all the way back to PA every time I need to see a doctor. Has anyone else moved states while in the middle of an active claim? I’m worried about whether my current medical providers here will even accept the PA workers’ comp insurance, and I don’t want to get stuck paying out of pocket for things that should be covered. Also not sure if I need to officially transfer anything or if I just keep everything running through my original lawyer. Any advice from folks who’ve navigated this kind of interstate mess would be hugely appreciated because I’m feeling pretty lost.
