For Aloe plant care you need soil that is well-drained to avoid stagnation of moisture. Mexican cactus or succulent potting mix is the best as it has sand, perlite or pumice that allows free drainage. You may also make a mixture of your own by mixing regular potting soil with coarse sand and perlite. Avoid heavy, clay-based soil. Sandy soil will have good roots and fungus will not occur as often as well as root rot.
