InvitadoAnyone dealt with pallet hygiene issues for food storage in a warehouse here in UAE?
So we just had a minor scare last month where a batch of imported goods got flagged during a routine check because the wooden pallets underneath had some mold buildup, apparently from humidity sitting in storage for too long, and it made me realize we never really paid attention to what our pallets were actually made of or how they were maintained, we just used whatever the supplier gave us without asking questions, after that whole mess our ops manager started looking into a Quality Hygienic Pallet supplier in UAE since apparently plastic or properly treated pallets handle moisture and pests way better than the cheap wooden ones we had been using for years, has anyone here switched over and noticed a real difference in cleanliness or durability, honestly kind of annoyed we didn’t look into this sooner because it feels like such a basic thing to overlook.

InvitadoWooden pallets in this climate are a mold time bomb honestly, the humidity swings between AC storage and outdoor loading docks create condensation that just sits in the grain. Switched to plastic two years ago and never had a mold flag since.

InvitadoCurious what kind of check flagged it, was that a municipality inspection or an internal audit? Asking because the response and documentation needed differs a lot depending on who’s doing the flagging.

InvitadoNot convinced plastic solves everything either, we still get condensation buildup on plastic pallets if the warehouse humidity control isn’t sorted first. The pallet material matters less than people think if the storage environment itself is the actual problem.

InvitadoSame story here, found mold on wood pallets during a supplier audit and it was such an easy fix in hindsight. The annoying part was convincing management the upfront cost was worth it since wood always looks cheaper on paper.

InvitadoHow bad was the mold actually, like surface level or had it gotten into the product boxes too? That changes whether this is a “switch pallets” problem or a much bigger storage practices problem.
