I’ve got a 2017 S-Class that’s been my daily driver for a few years now, and honestly the ride quality has really gone downhill over the past six months. The car used to glide over everything, but now it feels crashy and unsettled, especially over those little bumps on the way to the office, and I’m pretty sure the shock absorbers are the culprit because there’s visible weeping on the front struts and the car bounces more than it should after hitting a dip. I’ve been getting quotes from a few places and the prices for genuine Mercedes parts are absolutely eye-watering, so I’m trying to figure out if there are any decent aftermarket options that won’t break the bank but still give a similar ride quality. A mate of mine mentioned a garage in Umm Suqeim that specialises in German cars and actually takes the time to properly diagnose the issue before just throwing parts at it, which is exactly what I need because I don’t want to end up spending a fortune on parts that don’t solve the problem. I’ve been looking for an Affordable Mercedes shock absorber replacement in Umm Suqeim since that area is convenient for me, and I’ve heard there are a few workshops there that can source quality components at reasonable prices. Has anyone here replaced the shocks on their S-Class recently and can recommend a good alternative to the OEM parts that won’t compromise the ride comfort? Also, do these cars need any kind of software recalibration after fitting new shocks, or is it just a straight swap and you’re good to go? I really want to get the magic carpet ride back because it’s the whole reason I bought this car in the first place.
